Biomedical Engineering combines engineering expertise with medical needs for the enhancement of health care. Biomedical Engineering differs from other engineering disciplines and has an influence on human health where biomedical engineers use and apply an intimate knowledge of modern biological principles.
Biomedical Engineering focuses on the advances that improve human health and health care at all levels. Many do research, along with medical scientists, to develop and evaluate systems and products such as artificial organs, prostheses (artificial devices which replace missing body parts), instrumentation, medical information systems, and health management and care delivery systems. Biomedical engineers also may design devices used in various medical procedures, imaging systems such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and various devices for automating insulin injections or controlling body functions. Some specialties within biomedical engineering are biomaterials, biomechanics, medical imaging, rehabilitation engineering and orthopedic engineering.
The Biomedical Engineering department was established in the year 2019 with an initial intake of 60 students. The highly qualified and experienced faculty members and the energetic students work together extensively to build interdisciplinary knowledge in the areas of Medicine, Molecular&CellularBiology, Medical Electronics, Microelectronics &Engineering. The Department has well experienced faculty members in teaching, research as well as industrial sector. The Department is well equipped with Biomedical Lab facilities, Clinical and Instrumentation software facilities, State of the art infrastructure. The Department of Biomedical Engineering follows choice-based credit system. The Students are encouraged to attend workshops, conferences, seminars in and around the state.
